PAGASA Weather Update - August 8, 2012

The Southwest Monsoon "Habagat" enhanced by Tropical Storm "Haikui" located 300 km Northeast of Taiwan will continue to bring occasional to frequent rains over Luzon becoming moderate to heavy rains in the Provinces of Ilocos, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and National Capital Region today until tomorrow with gradual improvement of weather condition by Thursday and onwards to the weekend. Expect landslides/flashfloods in mountainous areas and floods in low lying areas.
In Metro Manila, rainfall warning signal is still on Code: Red
Torrential rainfall (30.0-40.0mm/hr) was observed over QC, CAMANAVA, Manila & Marikina while Moderate to Heavy rainfall (5.0-15.0mm/hr) was observed over the rest of Metro Manila for the past 3 hours.
Due to the effect of the series of thunderstorms embedded in the Southwest Monsoon flow, expect Heavy to Intense (10-25.0mm/hr) rains with occasional to frequent Torrential (more than 30.0mm/hr) rains within 3 hrs.
